Dalmia Cement

The leading Indian cement manufacturing company Dalmia Cement joined RE100 in November 2016 with an interim target to increase the percentage of renewables in its overall electricity consumption fourfold by 2030 compared to 2015.

In 1993, when the total installed wind capacity in India was about 80 megawatt, Dalmia Cement commissioned a 16.5 MW windfarm in Tamil Nadu. Now, as a member of RE100, the company has reiterated its long term ambition to upscale its renewable energy consumption, with a firm belief in a clean energy future.

Prashant Tripathy, Group Manufacturing Head, Dalmia Bharat, said: “RE100 is well aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and will also align with the sustainability roadmaps of companies. It provides ample flexibility to take steady steps towards a giant goal. The initiative has the potential to develop peer-to-peer learning and sharing of best practices taking place across the world.”
